Teotihuacan
This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located approx 60 miles off Mexico City. This is Mexico’s site of the biggest ancient city dating back 300 to 600 BC. You’ll also find the Templo de Quetzalcoatl here along with the Tepantitla Palace. There is a museum here as well which houses beautiful exhibits of the artefacts of the city, site diagrams and models.
Chichen Itza
Chichen Itza is the most travelled ancient Mayan site in the Yucatan, famous for its temples and pyramids. The site is located in a jungle and people say that it was populated for 2,000 years or more. You can see El Castillo or the Pyramid of Kukulkan here as well as El Caracol is an interesting observatory at this site.
Guanajuato
Guanajuato is a UNSECO World Heritage Site and is one of the colonial gems of the nation. It has a magnificent architecture and historical buildings which includes many museums and churches. Many cultural events and festivals are held here through the year and every weekend, the callejoneadas or the musicians, dressed traditionally, guide processions singing, strumming, narrating stories to the people that follow them.
Copper Canyon
This is a great network of canyons and when seen or combined together, this network is much larger and huge compared to the Grand Canyon. You can explore it while travelling on the Railway Chihuahua al Pacifico. The route passes through eighty six tunnels and over thirty seven bridges that rise nearly about 7,900 feet above sea level, with stunning views below of the Grand Canyons.
Riviera Maya
This place has more than 80 miles of sun dyed coastline which stretchs between Tulum and Cancun and has cenotes, beautiful inlets, cloistered beaches, blue bays and caverns.
